FC St Helens Reserves vs Winsford Town: Stripes hope to secure promotion

This evening sees FC St Helens Reserves play host to fellow promotion hopefuls, Winsford Town, with intentions of crowning an extraordinary season by claiming the final promotion spot at the expense of their divisional rivals.

As previously stated, The Stripes have enjoyed a remarkable campaign in the second tier of the Cheshire Football League — undergoing an enviable unbeaten run of 21 league games, since the collaborative management duo of Paul Sweeney and Ryan Platt took the reins.

With Sweeney and Platt — both occupying roles as player-managers — as well as Ste Ashton, Chris Cottington and Brad Green, amongst others in the squad, there is welcome experience of success at First Team level of years gone by for the SMS Pro Soccer Park side.

That has been further complemented by the wealth of youth that the squad has at their disposal.

One of the most notable success stories has been comprised of the eye-catching goalscoring exploits of frontman Ryan Sinnott — with him being rewarded with his inaugural First Team appearance on Saturday.

He concluded a dream day, by rounding off the scoring for Michael Smith’s side in a 3-0 win on that occasion — he’ll be hopeful that he can have his prolific, season-long endeavours further merited with promotion.

With those astounding displays from all throughout the side — whether they be the younger talents or the more experienced figureheads — it isn’t surprising to see that a recipe for success has been so seamlessly put into action, but you must commend the efforts of all involved.

Just two points are required, from their remaining fixtures, but they’ll hope to have the proposition of promotion sewn up as soon as possible.
